My friends and I are ready for retirement.  Well, more specifically we have already planned where we are going to retire.  We’ve decided that a commune on the Northern Pacific Coast surrounded by hot springs and gardens will suit us just fine.  We’ll hire a few pool boys to deliver fruity cocktails and ice cream sundaes every night while we watch reruns of Beverly Hills 90210 and play endless games of Sudoku.

The commune idea was born in a dusty kitchen surrounded by pizza boxes and Diet Pepsi cans.  More after the jump!


Saying Goodbye


Despite being someone who has never read Winnie the Pooh, I sure am touched by this quote.

Who’s to say that inspiration can’t come from a chubby yellow bear in a t-shirt that’s almost certainly three sizes too small?  What inspires you and helps you change in small but meaningful ways doesn’t have to come in big packages.

Why 5th Graders Make the Best Friends

I just read an article over at hello giggles that made me so happy – it’s about how to make friends.  Sounds simple enough, but is it really?  To those of my readers in their 30′s and beyond – when was the last time you made a really good new friend – we’re talking bestie material?  If I’m right, it’s probably been awhile…because somehow making new friends is easier when you still carry a fake i.d.

Last week I talked about my goal for making new friends in 2014, and this article gives some fun ideas for how.  It’s short, charming, and it’s about why 5th graders are better at making friends than we are.

Because they’re really, really good at:

  1. Buying accessories at Claire’s
  2. Choreography
  3. Pillow Talk
  4. Snacks
