What’s the worst thing that happened to you this week? An annoying co-worker? A rainy day? An apocalyptic zombie outbreak? Ugh, tell me about it. But why don’t we ever take those bad things and turn them around? Because every bad thing – whether it’s a grating personality, a bad turn of the weather, or an epically sucky situation – is actually just the opposite side of a coin that holds something positive.
Perhaps you have a co-worker who is indecisive, always hemming and hawing over every task. But have you ever noticed that this same person is also probably the one co-worker who is really great at seeing things from many different perspectives? Opposite side of the same coin. A rainy day that forces you to stay inside might just be the motivation you needed to finally start that personal project you’ve been putting off. And that apocalyptic zombie outbreak? An opportunity to practice everything you’ve learned on The Walking Dead.
So next time something or someone pesky comes your way, maybe stop and ask yourself: what’s the opposite side of this coin? Now, what’s the best thing that’s happened to you this week?
