An Ordinary Life

I know there are a million and one theories about what makes a happy person happy.  For me, personally, I think it has a lot to do with the ability to find satisfaction in the ordinary that frees up my brain  to dream beyond it.  So much of what I find wonderful about life is pretty pedestrian – like I get really, really excited about nail polish and empty notebooks (I’m kind of a product hoarder).

What are your most ordinary pleasures?  Please share in the comments below!

And a little inspiration for living an “ordinary” life:

“Do not ask your children
to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable,
but it is the way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder
and the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting
tomatoes, apples and pears.
Show them how to cry
when pets and people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure
in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.
The extraordinary will take care of itself.”

  1. A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. I do believe
that you need to publish more on this subject matter, it may not be a taboo
subject but generally folks don’t discuss these subjects.
    To the next! Many thanks!!

  2. a nibble (okay, a gigantic ogre-sized bite) of dark chocolate with sea salt after lunch and dinner ALWAYS puts a smile on my face.

And, sharing a look with a good friend that SAYS IT ALL without having to say a single word.
