Santa(con) is Coming To Town
One of my favorite days of the year is coming up this weekend - that’s right, Santacon is coming to town. What is Santacon? “Santacon is a charitable, non-commercial, non-political, nonsensical Santa Claus convention that happens once a year for absolutely no reason.” To get involved and “ho” for charity, check out the official Santacon website. Last year, they raised over $45,000 and donated 10,000 lbs. of food!
Basically, it’s a St. Nick bar crawl (and the only excuse girls need to dress promiscuously again after Halloween). Traumatizing for children? Probably. Entertaining for sober spectators? Absolutely.
The meet-up location is kept hush-hush until the night before when Santa sends a message to his naughty boys and girls. All mayhem officially descends on the NYC streets and subways at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. If you’re going to be running around the city on Saturday, have your camera ready (and word to the wise – don’t sit on Santa’s lap).
Happy Santacon! Some great photos from years past below!
