Ordinary Men in Underwear Ads

Ordinary Men in Underwear

It’s impossible to live in New York City and not be acutely aware of the Amazonian runway models who roam our streets like aliens from another, more attractive planet.  If I had a nickel for every time a model with 9-foot hair extensions swung her ponytail into my mouth while stealing my taxi, I’d live in the Trump Tower.  And the male models?  They just look right through me with their laser-beam eyes as if my BMI is being analyzed…right before they deem me unsuitable for sex.

The good news is we’ve been seeing real women with real curves in ad campaigns for several years now, but where are the real men hiding?  Apparently, the answer is in London.  The British newspaper, Sun, put together this fun photo series that shows ordinary men mimicking the poses of big name underwear models.

Color me crazy, but the chest hair, the pale legs, the pouch, and the awkward nakedness?  That’s all a helluva lot sexier to me than a man covered in baby oil who moonlights in male revues.

All the photos from the series below!

So, be honest, what’s more sexy to you?  Tell me in the comments!

  1. You know what I just realized… I think all these guys are beautiful in their own way, models and regular guys. Guys see us that way as well, huh? Yeah, the women models are beautiful, but guys see regular women beautiful as well.

I hope I’m right, ’cause if I am then that’s refreshing.

  3. Heeheeeheee…a thought just crossed my mind. It occurred to me that on the off-chance that a ‘normal’ woman should run into the Adonis-type male as seen in the ads, in so many cases the are chances that he would not be attracted to her…but maybe her boyfriend!!! :-D

  5. I like the hard abs and so sexy body pics myself. But I also believe people should take care of their body so of course I’m more inclined to like looking at a man who actually looks like he bothers to workout and eat right. I showed my mom and we both agree the hot man nice abs gets our vote.

  6. Well, since top left (the real Calvin Klein) looks eerily like my husband, I would have to say the real guys do it for me as well!!

  7. It seems incredibly hypocritical for The Sun to have done this. They have Page Three girls – a picture of a naked ‘glamour model’ posing in a pornographic way, and sex comics in the back. Now they’re campaigning for respect for men?

  8. This is awesome – the sooner we all stop expecting perfection, trying to emulate perfection, or being self conscience because of our imperfections, the better! I personally love a real man! Do you know how much primping and gym time it takes for those models to look like that – takes a lot of time away from having a relationship

  9. Of course I’m a huge Gandy fan, just like KP. And the regular Joe did a fab job with the mimic of David’s ad but I think my favorite average Joe is the lad modeling the Calvin Klein underwear. He really floats my boat. The bald head, the sexy beard and HELLO! Look at those guns! He’s just as yummy as any of these supermodels. ❤️

  10. Be realistic; if the models didn’t sell underwear, they wouldn’t be on billboards, in magazines, etc. We’re all entitled to find the “perfect” male model sexy – but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some women may go for a more “manly” kind of guy, extra body hair and all. In the end, does it really matter? It’s all about perspective.

  11. Calvin – model (only because I don’t like my guys as biker-ish as the real guy), #2 – Beckham (he can bend me any day), D&G – real guy, Armani – real guy. I’m not exactly a supermodel myself, ya’ll.

  13. I admit I’m a big Gandy fan, so I’ll pick him any day. But the take off on his D&G photo is actually pretty good. I like that one.

  15. I’d much rather see perfection on a bill board, maybe Im shallow but the models (who are actually all superior athletes) ooze sex. Dont get me wrong theyre all attractive in their own right but its like the athletic hero’s of roman times and the statues of Gods – nothings changed.

  17. I like my men to look, feel and act like real men, not some greased and ripped dude with perfectly trimmed armpit hair. All of the men on the left are attractive in their own way and the men on the right look unnatural and fake to me. I had a lover once who was totally ripped and although he was great to look at, there was no softness to him, he felt unnatural.

  19. A couple of friends and I were JUST having this conversation the other day. I kept seeing pictures on my Facebook of some ripped, shiny dude from some TV show (Jax something-or-other? Is there an actor named Jax?) and I expressed that I didn’t find him appealing cuz he just didn’t look real to me…and was WAY too oily. Hugging him would be like hugging a brick wall that’s been coated in Pam cooking spray. But these “ordinary” guys? They’re built like my husband, ya know? And I very much like hugging him. (And yes, I literally mean hugging. I don’t care if that IS weird, lol.)

  20. I just realized how very much I like looking at men. All of them. The biggest question: which one of them makes me laugh the hardest?

  21. as an interesting side-note, apparently they make underwear models wear two sets of pants to help make everything look ‘fuller’ in the package and it also keeps the fabric firm and smooth

  23. Yeah . . . the models look good, but they look to good, unattainable perfection . . . I much prefer the real men (especially the beardy guy with glasses ;0) ) as they are actually men that I can see myself with and being comfortable around if we both happened to find ourselves in our underwear.
